KABELLION: BEST MAINSTREAM INDIE RELEASES – 8/7/15 – ESSENTIALS

The sheer number of releases this week was impressive, but more impressive are the great albums among this thick pack of tunes. We’re glad to see the groovy, hard-hitting band, IAMDYNAMITE back at it again with their second LP titled Wasa Tusa. There just so happens to be a snake-oil medicine from the 1800s named Wasa Tusa – maybe they’re digging on some old cough syrup or just happened upon the same name – in either case, it’s still fun to say. On their new LP, they have moved away from their older punk influences and have embraced a more electro-pop vibe that works well for the band, while still managing to retain their upbeat vibe.

A nice funky release this week is the album titled Give Up Your Dreams (not too optimistic) by the psychedelic fringed band The Phoenix Foundation. You’ll find yourself submerged in an updated 70s synth-psych chamber of awesomeness, so give it a listen.

If sexiness is your thing with a reminiscent feel to that of Active Child, then the single Josephine by Ritual is definitely your weekend track. I’ve already dropped this into my sexy playlist and it is going into high rotation – lovin it. Whatever your thing you should find it in this week’s playlist.

Kabellion: Best Mainstream Indie Releases – 6/30/15

One of the best indie release weeks in a while as there aren’t any megaband releases like Muse to distract from the new innovative greatness that overflows this week. The artists are also reaching deep into the more experimental styles, so there’s not much guitar rock in this week’s recap. Enjoy the blending of genres/styles!
