KABELLION – BEST INDIE VENTURE ARTISTS (NON-LABEL ARTISTS) OF THE WEEK – 8/11/15

For our second playlist during the hot summer month of August, we have a few exceptional Venture Artists (non-label artists) that have dropped some stellar tracks on us. Plenty of indie electro-pop tracks to take you through the dog days here. Definite check outs are Chase the Night by Work Drugs, Two Voices by The Controversy and for a harder vibe, Sound and Silence by Dead Poet Society. Enjoy and stay cool.

KABELLION – BEST INDIE VENTURE ARTISTS (NON-LABEL ARTISTS) OF THE WEEK – 8/4/15

The Venture Artist releases this week have us returning to a good ‘ole rock roots playlist. If you’re in the mood to get kicked in the teeth with some intense rock goodness, check out the 2nd EP by So Long Albatross. Their style is a bit like a cranked up Queens of the Stone Age meets Wolfmother.

For a synth-rock track that will get you grooving, check out the lead track in the playlist, Insane by Everyday Animals. Their style eludes immediate comparison to another act, but they are cleanly in the synth influenced indie-rock genre with a built in rap-ey (not actual rap) vocal rhythm.

A unique truly unique track has Wilhelm Brothers showing off at the helm of a cello in the song Bright Side of the Moon, which is rare instrumental spotlight, even in the indie-folk renaissance going on right now.

The track Shadows by Social Club provides us with some inspiration in closing out the playlist with another indie-rocker that vocally harkens back to the 90’s grunge vocal aesthetic, but musically stops short of throwing us back into the 90s in our plaid shirts and greasy hair. It’s a unique mix of styles that has us at home, yet stretches the borders of what we know, as all good new music does.

These are all epic bands and they prove it this week with phenomenal tracks. If you like any of the bands featured in our playlist this week, check out their full releases and let ‘em know how great they are – they deserve it as they’re truly incredible!

KABELLION: BEST MAINSTREAM INDIE RELEASES – 7/31/15 – ESSENTIALS

This week, we have more than a few light 80’s synth laden electro-pop goodies, a bit of heavy UK influence and a saucy Miss Cleo reference from Albert Hammond Jr. If you don’t know who Miss Cleo is, click here for a picture of this gorgeous tarot televangelist – brace yourself.

Acts to check out for their novel sound are Lianne La Havas (folky, soul sexiness), Kid Astray (Norweigan synth indie-pop), and Joss Stone who is bringing a heavy Reggae vibe to her new album.

In the ebb and flow cycle of music being released, this week definitely has the bands in a flow state. The only way you can do the artists in this playlist justice is to listen to every track and enjoy.

KABELLION: BEST MAINSTREAM INDIE RELEASES – 7/24/15 – ESSENTIALS

The mainstream indie releases this week are fabulous at a minimum, but for most, this playlist will take you into the epic stratosphere. There are a few soulful releases from the likes of On an On, Ducktails and Owl & Mouse, while Foals and Nervo keep us on our toes with some upbeat tunes. If banjo riffs and countryside aromas are your thing, make sure to check out The Dustbowl Revival. For those already prepping for Friday Night Sexy Mode, check out Fingertips by Leo Kaylan and Leaves by Baile. For an updated sexy throwback, listen to the cover of Baby One More Time by Tove Styrke.
